ABOUT

I am a 25-year-old sound designer and graduate of Edinburgh Napier University, where I achieved a 2:1 in (BsC Hons) sound design. I am a versatile, creative sound designer with strong recording, mixing and editing experience. I am a positive and excited team player with strong organisational and communication skills. Once I graduate with my honours degree in sound design, I plan to pursue a career freelancing, then move on to more full-time positions. 

 

My interest in sound sparked at a very young age, every opportunity to learn a musical instrument, I jumped at. My first instrument was the bagpipes in primary 6. The skills I acquired playing the pipes were very transferable to sound design, giving me an understanding of tonality, harmony and frequency content. 

 

Producing music on my laptop introduced me to DAWs (Digital Audio Workstation), and was what inspired me to choose to study for an HND in sound production at Edinburgh College. After graduating, I jumped into 3rd year of a sound design course at Edinburgh University. The jump was challenging at first, but overall I have had a really amazing time, working on some really fulfilling projects.

I have also been employed by multiple companies as a sound designer and as a music composer. My most recent projects have come from Glasgow based production company, Cut Media, who focus primarily on promoting cycling and aspects of cycling life. I am also working with Cut Media on my honors project, studying the effect of hyperreal audio on listeners using videos they produced.

From 2019 to the present my focus has been Dislexic Films. I have dedicated most of my time to learning the basics of cinematography, set design and post-production film (all things I was very keen to learn about). We chose music videos as our first projects because it gave us a chance to solely develop our filmmaking skills. Leaning these skills has been very fun, but I'm excited to say we are now moving forward onto projects that require sound design.
